My 20 years of experience in understanding and assessing human capabilities, covering physical, sensorial, cognitive and emotional domains, has not been limited to research. I have applied this know-how to support products and service developments in different sectors as Health and Social care, Public Transport and Automotive, Workplace Health and Safety, Digital Interfaces, Sports and Consumer Goods.

Deploy and seamlessly Integrate Human-Centred Innovation in your Development Processes

Pioneering on Human-Centred Innovation to optimise Developments: I have  applied  and transferred my innovation process to reduce costs, time to market,  and enhance users’ acceptance; supporting companies developments of previous sectors. The methodology combines Human Factors, User Experience and Lean and it is aligned with the specific regulatory process of each sector as MDR for medical devices, safety standard for automotive ADAS or Consumer Goods.

Pioneering on Human-Centred Laboratories for R&I: I have led the definition, set up and deployment of different Low-Tech and High-Tech Laboratories to simulate and characterize human behaviour and assess human interaction; covering postures, movements, pressure and force, thermal response, physiological response and preferences and cognitive workload. The flexibility and adaptably of these Labs allows to  directly characterize human behaviour and  to assess the interaction with products and services in different stages of development, from conceptual designs and dummy prototypes to products and services available in the market, and adapt to different sector s and target populations.

Pioneering on Affective Computing & Empathic Technologies: My research on physiological response and user preferences was the first published paper in the world. It was adapted to support people with cognitive and or emotional disorders (awarded by Caser Foundation). The approach was also extended to infer cognitive workload or attention during my PhD Thesis. Along the next decades it has been  applied in a multitude of research projects and private contracts with different companies. More recently,  I have lead the development  of different solutions for Non-Contact Monitoring  devices and Empathic Technologies

I have always been interested on human interaction and its impact on performance and well-being, which is reflected on my formative career, projects, publications and patents, combining engineering, social and medical sciences. This was reinforced due to two key personal situations, one, a close relationship of a young person with bipolarity, the other one the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) that suffered my father when he was retired.

Currently, I am focused on 1) Collaborating with Research Centres to understand, characterize and evaluate humans; 2) Supporting companies to develop human-centered products and services; 3) Seeking for technology humanizing to achieve empathic Interaction and democratize disruptive technologies. In all cases, with one aim, to generate real and meaningful impact on individual and society well-being.
